For more than 40 years, SERVPRO of Richmond, Chesterfield, Henrico, and Tri-Cities has been making a difference in our community and we are excited about our expansion in the Chesapeake, Newport News and Arlington area! This locally owned and operated, family-run business started from the ground up to become one of the largest, most stable, and well-respected disaster restoration companies on the East Coast. Though we are ever-growing, we still maintain a close-knit, family environment, and truly pride ourselves on the collective goal of helping people through their fire and water disasters.

As deemed one of the Top Workplaces in Richmond and Chesapeake, our SERVPRO team will actively invest in the development and advancement of your career, while you enjoy the gratifying experience of helping people through difficult situations. We invite you to join our team, or rather our Team Bahen family, and feel the accomplishment of directly impacting our community by helping making fire and water damage “Like it never even happened.” Our company offers a robust benefit package, continuous education opportunities, and a fantastic team-oriented environment.

We are seeking a hands-on HR Operations Supervisor to lead the day-to-day execution of Human Resources and payroll coordination functions while supervising a team of HR Coordinators, Payroll Coordinators, Recruiting staff, and administrative team members.

This role serves as the primary operational leader for the HR support team. These positions report directly to the HR Operations Supervisor, who provides daily guidance, support, and accountability while ensuring HR processes run smoothly and consistently across the organization.

This is not a sit-back leadership role. The HR Operations Supervisor works within the details — answering questions, supporting employees and managers, removing roadblocks, and helping the HR team stay organized, responsive, and effective.

What You’ll Do

  • Supervise HR Coordinators, Payroll Coordinators, Recruiting staff, and administrative team members

  • Serve as the first line of support for HR process questions and employee concerns

  • Ensure onboarding, documentation, payroll coordination, and compliance workflows are completed accurately and on time

  • Support employee relations activities, investigations, and policy administration

  • Oversee HR administrative processes, personnel records, and employee documentation accuracy

  • Review payroll files for accuracy and support payroll-related questions

  • Assist with benefits administration, open enrollment coordination, and issue resolution

  • Support safety and workers’ compensation administrative processes and documentation

  • Partner with HR leadership to implement process improvements and departmental initiatives

  • Remain actively engaged in daily operations, working alongside the HR team to keep work moving

What Success Looks Like

  • HR operations run efficiently and consistently

  • Team members feel supported and have a reliable resource for questions and guidance

  • Onboarding, payroll coordination, and documentation are completed accurately and on time

  • Issues are identified early and addressed proactively

  • The HR department operates with strong organization, responsiveness, and accountability

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including supervisory or team lead responsibilities

  • Experience supporting multiple HR functions, including employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, payroll coordination, benefits administration, and compliance

  • Experience supervising direct reports and providing day-to-day operational leadership

  • Strong working knowledge of employment laws, HR practices, and payroll processes

  • Experience working within HRIS and payroll systems

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel); experience with QuickBooks® or similar systems preferred

  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion

Who Thrives in This Role

  • HR professionals who enjoy being hands-on and involved in daily operations

  • Leaders who support their team by working alongside them

  • Individuals who are organized, responsive, and process-driven

  • Those comfortable balancing supervision with execution

  • Professionals who take ownership and help keep work moving
