Primary Objective
The Assistant Superintendent supports Team Wilson’s field operations by working directly alongside superintendents to keep projects on schedule and running efficiently. This role is responsible for sourcing and delivering materials, conducting job site visits, and handling a wide range of field-level duties that keep production moving. It is a fast-paced, highly mobile position for someone who is resourceful, dependable, and thrives in a construction environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Assist superintendents with day-to-day field operations and project coordination across active job sites.
- Procure, pick up, and deliver materials, supplies, and equipment to job sites in a timely and accurate manner.
- Conduct job site visits to assess site conditions, access points, and upcoming material or logistical needs, reporting findings back to the superintendent or project manager.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, receipts, and material deliveries in accordance with company requirements.
- Assist with quality control checks and punch list completion under superintendent direction.
- Represent Team Wilson professionally with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and adjusters in the field.
- Handle miscellaneous field duties and errands as assigned to keep projects and the team moving forward.
- Participate in on-call or after-hours activity as needed to support emergency or time-sensitive project demands.
Role Boundaries
- This role supports field production after jobs have been sold and handed off — it does not own initial opportunity development or sales activity.
- This role does not own scope creation, insurance estimate development, adjuster negotiation, or contract signing.
- This role does not independently direct subcontractors or make binding commitments on behalf of the company without superintendent authorization.
- Material procurement and vendor coordination are performed in support of the superintendent and in partnership with the broader project team.
Working Relationships
- Division Manager — sets overall direction and is direct supervisor.
- Superintendents — provides day-to-day direction; this role operates as a direct extension of the superintendent in the field.
- Project Manager — supports project-level coordination, documentation, and communication as needed.
- Vendors & Suppliers — coordinates material sourcing, availability, and delivery logistics.
- Subcontractors — assists with scheduling communication and on-site coordination under superintendent direction.
- Customers — maintains a professional and courteous presence during job site interactions.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in construction, trades, or a field support role preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; reliable transportation required.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Clear and professional communication skills with superintendents, vendors, subcontractors, and customers.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-moving environment and make sound decisions under time pressure.
- Familiarity with common construction materials, sequencing, and trade work preferred.
- Self-motivated and highly dependable with a strong work ethic and team-first attitude.
Physical and Field Requirements
- Able to drive regularly across job sites, supplier locations, and other field destinations within the assigned service area.
- Comfortable on active construction sites in variable weather and working conditions.
- Able to lift, carry, and transport materials and supplies consistent with field operations.
- Comfortable accessing job sites that may include ladders, unfinished structures, or restricted-access areas.
- Flexible availability to support project demands including early mornings, late afternoons, or occasional weekend needs.
Compensation: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
