RESTORATION TECHNICIAN

POSITION SUMMARY
The Restoration Technician supports the restoration process by performing water extraction, drying, mold remediation, and repairs on residential and commercial properties. This role assists the Lead Technician in ensuring restoration projects are executed efficiently and in compliance with safety and industry standards. The Restoration Technician will be responsible for operating equipment, maintaining job site cleanliness, and documenting project progress while delivering excellent customer service.

OBJECTIVES
Assist in performing water extraction, drying, dehumidification, mold remediation, and fire damage cleanup while providing excellent customer service, ensuring client satisfaction by addressing concerns promptly and professionally. Operate, monitor, and maintain restoration equipment, including air movers, dehumidifiers, and extraction units, to ensure the effective restoration of properties. Ensure job sites are safe and adhere to industry standards and company safety protocols. Accurately document the work performed, project status, and job progress for reporting purposes while conducting regular checks and adjustments of drying and dehumidification equipment to ensure optimal performance. Communicate effectively with clients, provide timely updates, and address any questions they may have about the restoration process. Support the Lead Technician in completing assigned tasks, including demolition, cleaning, and sanitization. Assist with loading, unloading, and setting up equipment at job sites to ensure timely and efficient operations. Identify potential safety hazards on-site and take proactive steps to mitigate them while maintaining clean and organized work areas during and after project completion. Ensure that all personal protective equipment (PPE) is used correctly and consistently during hazardous tasks. Participate in training to enhance your technical skills and stay current with industry best practices. Follow company protocols for handling and disposing of hazardous materials. Respond to emergency restoration calls and be available for on-call work as needed.

COMPETENCIES
Basic knowledge of water damage restoration, mold remediation, and fire damage restoration techniques. Ability to operate and maintain restoration equipment efficiently while maintaining the ability to follow safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment. Strong attention to detail in following processes, maintaining job site cleanliness, and documenting work. Effective teamwork and collaboration skills to support Lead Technicians and other team members. Effective verbal communication skills are essential for interacting with clients and providing project updates. Reliability and punctuality, with a strong work ethic and commitment to meeting deadlines. Flexibility to adapt to changing project demands or emergency situations. Basic understanding of tools and equipment used in demolition and restoration tasks, while problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot equipment issues or job site challenges. Physical stamina to perform labor-intensive tasks, including lifting, standing, and moving heavy equipment. Ability to work in various environments, including those with moisture, mold, and fire-damaged structures, and customer service orientation to ensure a positive client experience. Proficiency in using basic technology for documenting job progress and communicating with team members. Willingness to participate in ongoing training and development to improve skills and knowledge.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience in water damage restoration, fire restoration, mold remediation, or related fields is preferred. Certification in water damage restoration (IICRC) or a related certification is a plus, but not required; a basic familiarity with restoration equipment, safety protocols, and industry practices is sufficient.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift, carry, and operate equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods. Ability to work in confined spaces, as well as environments affected by water, fire, or mold damage. Comfortable wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, gloves, and safety goggles. Ability to work in varying weather conditions and potentially irregular hours, including nights and weekends when responding to emergency calls.
